Strong enough? A Genersys solar panel bares the weight of a Land Rover, 2007
Homepage < Buyer's guide to solar panels < Light but strong

Is your solar panel light but strong -as strong as a roof?

Solar panels must be strong enough to withstand the extreme weather conditions and light enough to be easy to install and to place no structural burden on the roof. Aswell as being physically durable, your solar panel also be protected against corrosion. Corrosion can severely reduce the performance of any manufactured product, especially a solar panel.

Below is a benchmark of what we have done to meet these crucial points, and a few of the features to avoid:

Genersys solar panels:
The panel tray is stamped from a single sheet of aluminium manganese alloy, anodised for corrosion protection. This seamless method of construction is not only very strong, but there are no rivets to come undone and no seams which can act as weak point in the structure which will be subjected to large amounts of thermal stress.

What to avoid:
Most other panels are made up of a tray constructed by welding aluminium profile together and then welding a back sheet, to form a box. This generally means that the panels have to be thicker and heavier without being stronger.

Genersys solar panels are both light and strong!
